UK Olympic funding, Table Tennis loses

Table Tennis has lost a bit of support from UK sport as players prepare for the 2016 Olympic games at Rio de Janerio. Other sports that suffered are Basketball and Wrestling. The big gainers in percentage terms were Boxing, and Gymnastics. Rowing received the highest funding followed by Cycling, and Athletics.

Since UK Sport funds athletes who are likely to win medals and there was sharp focus on Table Tennis players' performance, it is not surprisingly that they took this decision. Here's hoping that the younger players prove their detractors wrong, work hard and get into medal contention at least for 2020.

Sunny Deol stays fit with Table Tennis

Sunny Deol, who is struggling recently with injuries, has found an innovative way to stay fit- by playing Table Tennis. Since he needs to avoid heavy weight lifting to avoid any danger to his back, he is indulging in bouts of Ping Pong after his regular gym workout. A special room kitted with all Table Tennis amenities has been set up for him.

It is rumoured that daddy Dharam ji is also a decent badminton and Table Tennis player too.

Here's Shahid Kapoor and Pankaj Kapur also playing Table Tennis. Many Bollywood stars, including Amitabh Bacchhan, Chitrangada Singh, Arjun Rampal, and others play Table Tennis.

First National Tournament of France on 5th January

The first National tournament of the season of France will be held at Chapelaine Table Tennis club, where many of the top 100 players of France are expected to participate. The tournament runs on January 5 and 6.

Ping Pong is now a huge party occasion. The ambiance is awesome at many such theme clubs. Bounce London, SPiN New York, LA, Milwaukee and so on are some big locations where celebrities and other people will party.

Five possible ways Ping Pong more deadlier than guns

Ping Pong more dangerous than Guns says Texas State Representative (Kyle Kacal).

5 Possible reasons:

• The Ping Pong ball is bigger and travels at high speeds
• The ball is delivered at short distances, usually around 12-15 feet (9 ft is the length of the table)
• The trigger is a paddle, not just a small trigger found in guns
• The opponent is dumb, does not defend a shot fired from the paddle and the ball that is launched
• The Ping Pong ball very often hits vulnerable parts of the lower body area

Donic Bluefire, spin, speed, control and more

Donic seems to have introduced a winner in the Bluefire series (M1, M2, M3). The rubbers boast extraordinary amounts of spin, and have great control. Speed is very good, but that is not their forte. A very balanced series of rubbers, Bluefire can be very effectively used for middle to slightly far from the table play. The rubber is ideal for both backhand and forehand.

Priced lesser than the Tenergy, Bluefire rubbers are definitely great value for money. An ambitious club level player (USATT rating 1600-2300) can easily adapt from Tenergy since Donic has spent valuable and careful time to research and bring out this rubber. Similarly, for a player above USATT rating of 2300, it is a simple move without major adapting required.

For someone who has money to spare but not a high playing strength, one can still go for this rubber, especially if one is used to the earlier Donic series (Coppa JO Gold, Coppa JO Platin, Sonex JP Gold)
