British Premier League 2011 starts on September 10th

The British League Premier Division Round One kicks off on 10th Sep 2011 at St Neots TTC, Riversmead.

With Paul Drinkhall, Darius Knight, and Gavin Rumgay in the thick of their preparation for the London Olympics, Drumchapel Glasgow are the firm favourites.

Drumchapel Glasgow have the very successful Ryan Jenkins and Chris Doran in their ranks. Gareth Herbert, Terry Young, Craig Howieson and Stephen Jenkins make it to the team. Craig Hardie, Richard Main and Scott Barton are the reserves.

Jakov Krivic of Croatia is the main hope for defending champs, Barrow along with Bradley Evans, Jonathan Crawford, Paul Cicchelli and Scott Crawford.

Fusion, last year’s third place finishers have Sule Olaleye joined by Omkar Torgalkar (who moved from Sycamore) at no. 2,  Lorestas Trumpauskas (the Mens Over 40s  Doubles Champion at the 2011 European Veterans Championships) and Kazeem Adisa Adekeke. England no. 25 Mark Smith and England no. 48 Tommy Cutler will lend support.

10 times Champions London Progress, have Po Huang “Barry” Chen Jason Sugrue. Igor Morais, Daniel Basterfield, Ashley Willetts make up their team.

The Ajmer District Table Tennis Championships started at the Indore stadium, Ajmer on the National Sports Day. On this day, the birth anniversary of the legendary Dhyan Chand is also celebrated.

2011 New York City Open on the JOOLA NA Tour

East Zone final results

Anthony Amalraj and Poulami Ghatak won the Men's and Women's singles titles at the East Zone Nationals held at Bolpur.  
Amalraj seems to have hit a purple patch. He won back to back titles with a win at the East Zone National Ranking at Bolpur. In the finals, he easily beat back Subhajit Saha's challenge 4-0. He lost games only to Soumyadeep Roy in the semi finals.

Bookmark him, Yan An is going to be a star!

Keep this name in your mind. This time, you can't blame that the name is a tongue-twister. Yan An, very simple.

We had already informed that this 18 year old kid is creating waves in the Chinese super league. There is more now.
In the Harmony Open China Pro Tour event, he first beat the World No. 1 Wang Hao and went on to beat Xu Xin (who had just recently beaten him in the Universiade games 4-0!)

Yan An is at this very moment playing Zhang Jike, the World Champ in the semi finals and is trailing 0-2.

Ma Lin ousted by Liventsov

Ma Lin upset by Alexey Liventsov (4-3) 11-5,11-2,7-11,11-9,3-11,9-11,11-7 in the very first round of the main draw in the 2011 Harmony China Open ITTF Pro Tour event. Liventsov is ranked 120 in the world.


What must have really hurt is that he lost to a relatively unknown player in front of his home crowd.

Amalraj, Manika bag titles

Anthony Amalraj - the quickest Indian TT player
Two big upsets on the final day of the Inter Institutional Championships 2011.

Amalraj beat India's only truly International player, Sharath Kamal 4-3 (10-12,14-12,11-5,4-11,4-11,11-6,11-7). Manika Batra beat Poulomi Ghatak 4-3 (7-11,8-11,11-5,11-9,11-7,8-11,13-11).

Amalraj went on to bag a double crown by winning the Men's doubles with partner Jubin Kumar
